Bottom Head/Dome UT Inspection

Bottom Head Inspection:

1. Divide bottom head into 4 quadrants; A, B, C and D
2. Full UT scan of each quadrant
3. Record the minimum thickness of each quadrant
4. If any thinning indication, make gridding in area thinning found. The gridding area shall
follow API 510 rule.
Note: To set the same perception, 3 oclock position is always at name plate side.

Bottom Elbow UT Inspection

Elbow Inspection:
1. Divide elbow into 4 quadrants: B-IN (Bend Intrado), B-EX (Bend Extrado), B-S1 (Bend
Side 1) & B-S2 (Bend Side 1).
2. Full UT scan of each quadrant
3. Record the minimum thickness of each quadrant
4. If any thinning indication, make gridding in area thinning found. The gridding area shall
follow API 570 rule.
Note: To set the same perception, location of quadrant BS-1 & BS-2 are divided based on
fluid flow as shown in the picture above.
