BAN ON PROMOTIONS,
|. In line with discussions held during the meeting of 23 PIA Board's HR Committee, held
on 21" November, 2011 at Lahore, Management has decided to develop a robust promotion
policy linked with trainings of the employees.
2. Management has also decided that till the training program is developed, executed and
implemented in PIA, a complete ban on initiation of cases of promotions / placements on
professional qualifications basis has been imposed. Following conditions of ban on promotion
are also notified;
(a) All the cases for promotion which have already been initiated shall be finalized in
the light of existing corporation rules.
(b) The cases of all those employees who have been declared as standby during their last
promotion board shall be finalized as per the rules of the corporation and this ban
shall not be applicable upon those cases.
(c) Management may consider the cases of confirmation on higher positions of those
officers who are working on the higher position as officiating arrangement, solely
upon the corporation or operational requirement. This ban shall not be applicable on
those cases.
(4) In order to meet the corporation / operational requirement, management may
consider the cases for appointment as officiating arrangements during this ban.
Since the Time Scale Promotions do not comply with any board / interview
requirements or need any training requirements, therefore, this ban shall not be
applicable on all Time Scale Promotions.

3. Meanwhile, General Manager Organizational Development shall develop, execute and
implement the training program for all employees, which shall be the prerequisite for eligibility of
promotions.
4, If the operational exigencies so require, then the clearance of Managing Director shall be
sought first to initiate the cases for promotion. Managing Director shall only authorize those cases
of promotion during the ban after getting approval of the Chairman-PIAC.
5. This ban on initiation of promotions cases shall be effective immediately and remain
effective till March 31%, 2012.
