Micro-teaching cycle

Micro Teaching Class period

In a micro teach class room the teaching situation is different.
The micro teaching class room period of duration of 5-10 minutes
the students number is 5-10.

Advantages
Can be practiced in the institute /college class itself
The Lesson/Topic is broken in to smaller unit
Only one skill is practiced at a time
Less time is needed for the whole process
Every once observing follows the trainee performance closely
to give a feedback

Immediate feedback and correction for improvement

Objectives are clear
Programme individualized and not bound by any particular course
structure
Suitable for all subjects
Simplifies complex teaching process
Efficiency in terms of time

Mock classrooms situation with trainees as real students

Training facilities and classrooms present
Provides teaching in simplified situations
Helps analyse how a unit could be taught best using relevant
skills to the unit
Practically practicing by self in the session helps learn the use
of skill but also viewing a video recorded version.
It can also help to learn on ones own

Focuses on teaching behavior.

It does not require any equipment as such if its not present.
More important is the persons who will give the correct feedback.
Parameter of disturbance, inattentiveness, indiscipline is controlled.

Disadvantages
Very expensive, if videotape facilities are used
Needs time for understanding and assimilating and using in
regular class lesson.
Only one skill so not a whole lesson/chapter
Micro teaching session not same as classroom teaching session

Organization and class management is not the simultaneous Focus

as in classroom situation
Concentration is only on relevant teacher behavior
Observers and supervisors also need training.
