FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international
organization that inspires young people to be science and technology leaders. FIRST is the Sport of the Mind with programs for kids age 6 to 18. Come experience FIRST tournaments in Rochester, Minnesota. All events are free and open to the public. Concessions will be available at each of the events. December 12 at Willow Creek Middle School. Jr. FLL 10:30-12:30 FLL 9:15-4:00 FTC Robot on display December 13 at Willow Creek Middle School FLL 9:15-4:00 FTC Robot on display January 17 at Mayo High School FTC 9:00-3:00 Jr FLL (FIRST LEGO League) has kids ages 6-9 research, create a Show Me Poster, build a LEGO model and exhibit their work. 2015-2016 theme: Waste Wise. FLL (FIRST LEGO League) has kids ages 9-16 find an innovative solution to a problem, build and program a LEGO robot to go through an obstacle course and present their work to judges. 2015-2016 theme: Trash Trek. FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) has kids ages 12-18 build a robot no larger than 18X18 inches to compete in a game of sport with other robots, maintain an engineering notebook and business plan and spread their enthusiasm for STEM. FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) has kids ages 14-18 build a robot up to 125 pounds which competes in a game of sport with other robots.
