As a child I was very competitive, and most of the time't still am today. My competitive
nature was my drive to complete
For example, I learned how to walk by watching my cousins run around my living room and
kitchen. I did not want to be the one left out from all this fun, so I stood up and started trytng to
be
just as good
as they were.
This same
drive helped me want to read. In my neighborhood I had multiple friends that were older than
me, and they could all read.
and
I didn't think it was fair that they were leaming how to read books
I only knew how to read certain words, therefore I decided that it was my turn to learn to
read as well.
My parents would always read to me before I went to sleep at night along with any other
time I requested to be read to. They would read ?me a Children's Bible and a book of nursery
rhymes. When I was old enoush to read by myself, I would play teacher and read to my parents,
sister, dolls, and even dogs.
My mom has always told me "read your bible every day and spend
qualrty time with God", which started one of my motivations to make sure
I readatleast
once a
day. To this day I still hear her reminding me to read every day, so I still rarely miss this
important time of my
day
