As formy students the majority are each other Christians, but | do have a student who practices Atheism. that most my students enjoy math, games, and hands on activities. \With this information | will hake sure that | include games and hands on activities in my future lesson plans. Parent involvement: Parent involvement is a big part of teaching Teachers need to know that ita certain situation arises, whether or not they will be able to reach out to the parent. For future leeeors or situations, Knowing whether a student's parent wil get involved with their child's Tearing may alter the type of homework assignments given to the students. Section tl: Long Range Learning andlor Developmental Goals pescribe the long range learning/dovelopmental goals (standards) that you have established for your casvints in each of the four content areas. Mako sure that you include goals that ‘address the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains and diversity for students. ‘Subject: English Language Arts Long Range Learning andlor Developmental Goals Simaples of teaming. Standard 4 Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. Students are expected to build off of prior knowledge to successfully recoani2® the Gistinguishing features of a sentence. 90% of the students will successfully Pass the given assessment. Reading Lteracy Text Standard 6: Determine meaning and develop Togical interpretations by making predictions, inferring, drawing conclusions, analyzing, synthesizing, providing evidence, and investigating multiple interpretations. ‘Students will bs able to successfully answer explicit questions by providing textual evidence, end use their inference skills to make accurate predictions. 85% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. Reading: Informalional Text Standard 12; Read independently and comprehend a variety of texts for the purposes of reading for enjoyment, acquiring new learning, and building ‘stamina; reflect and respond to increasingly complex text over time. Students will understand the importance of reading for research purposes and for recreational purposes; they will also be able to write a thorough reflection based off the text and what was taken from reading it. 90% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. ‘Writing- Standard 6: Write independently, legibly, and routinely for a variety of tasks, purposes, and audiences over short and extended time frames. Students will be able to use any given time to legibly write an informational, persuasive, or narrative text. 85 % of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. ‘Communication- Standard 2: Articulate ideas, claims, ives i I 3 and perspective: i Sequence using internation, tnaing, and erodsieeviaence tom seurces: Students will be able to effectively communicate research findings, and articulate feelings and thoughts in classroom debates. 90% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. Knowing what interests your students is what | believe separates the good teachers from the Student Interests | great teachers. From simply conversing with the students individually and asking them what they enjoy, I've gathered the majority of the class like ‘Students math more than any other subject. Also that just about all of them like to play games, watch videos, ‘and interact with the lesson. Parent Involvement _| Ittekes both the teacher and the parent working in Lnison to ensure that the student is actually learning. Unfortunately, not every parent is Mentor actively involved in theit childs life, so thelps the | — teacher/Parents teacher ifthey know which students’ parents will be involved and who will not. From speaking with parents and simply talking with my mentor teacher I've gathered that only a few of my students have parents actively involved with thei learning. Reflect on the student Information: Why do you feel that this student information is of primary importance, ‘and (2) how did and will you use this student information to guide the development of your long and short range plans? Reading Levels: | feel that knowing my students’ reading levels is extremely important, because | need to know what level of reading | should incorporate in my lessons. It would be ineffective to have a reading passage incorporated with my lesson that the majority of my class ‘would not be able to read and understand. Knowing that some of my students are reading on a level as low as Pre-Kindergarten and as high as the 5" grade level, | will use this information to guide how | approach certain reading passages and books. | will make sure that everything is at least read to the students so even if they cannot read a passage themselves, they will know what itis about Social Economic Status: Although some would say that knowing their students SES status isn't top priority | do believe that itis beneficial information for the educator. Knowing whether a ‘child has access to certain resources is necessary when assigning homework. You may have students (in my case) that are growing up in low income home, in which they are unable to purchase basic school supplies due to the amount of money coming in to their home. Knowing that the majority of my students are growing up in a “poor” family home, | will make sure that any work that | assign wor't cost the students a great deal of money. Cultural Beliefs/ Religion: As stated previously the majority of my class follow Christian beliefs, but I do have a student that practices Atheism, and was told not to participate in the pledge of allegiance, prayer, or anything related to the Christian belief. This information is important because a teacher should know beforehand if they have a student whose belief may contradict others, so they can steer clear of any topic that may cause confrontation or bullying. For future lessons | will make sure that | don't go too in depths with religious information Student Interests: Knowing what interests my students is necessary information for my lessons. By incorporating things that interest my students, encourage student involvement and interaction. Also by simply asking students what they like, they tend to open up to you, because they feel that you care about them and their wellbeing. From the information | gathered | know Reflect on the long range learning and/or developmental goals: Of the long range lesrung andior sevtropmental goals you have established, which goals do you beliave are the most important for all students to achieve, and why? Allof the goals are extremely important forthe future of these students. But if had fo prioritize the goals the top two would be: 1) Students will be able to identify the value of numbers up to +000, as well show how to add and subtract 2-4 digit numbers step by step. 2) Students will be able to identify the numerator/denominator of a fraction, as well as its overall value, Being able to subtractladd is the basics of mathematics; without being able to do both functions one would ot be able to progress in math. This is also a function that will be utilized almost dally in such ways as adding up prices while shopping, computing discounts and subtracting it from the original price of an item, and a variety of other ways. As for being able to understand fractions, itis imperative that students understand the relevance of it as well as how to identify them. Itis important that they understand that everything is made up of something, and that using fractions to combine certain things can alter the overall result or finished product. Subject: Scionce Long Range Learning andlor Developmental Goals Science and Engineering Practicas- 3.5.1A.1: Ask questions that can be (1) ‘answered using eclentific investigations or (2) used to refine models, explanations, or designs. setinte wil be able to distinguish the difference between @ question that can be answered through experimentation, and one that cannot. 85% of the students will successfully Pass the given assessment. Physical Science: Properties and Changes in Matter- 3.P.2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the properties used to classify matter and how heat energy can change matter from one state to another. Students will be able to distinguish the difference and similarties between the three states of Matter and identify the characteristics for each. 85% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment Physical Science: Energy Transfer- Standard 3.P.3: The student ‘will demonstrate an Understanding of how electricity transfers energy and how magnetism can result from electricity. Students will be able to explain and show the properties and functions of electricity and the transfer of energy. 85% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. Earih Science: Earth's Materials and Processes- Standard 3.E.4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the composition of Earth and the processes that shape features of Earth’s surface. ‘Students will be able to identify the layers/composition of the earth, and the basics of how the earth functions. 85% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. Reflect on the long range learning andor developmental gous: OF the tong range leaning andor developmental goals you have established, which goals do you belie re the ir students to achieve, and why? a i : ynost Heparin i at reflect on the long range learning and/or developmental goals: OF the long range learning andar Sevelopmontal gosls you havo established, which goals do you believe are the most important for all students to achieve, and why? | believe that from all ofthe expressed goals thatthe two goals that are the most imperative for my class to achieve would be: 1) Students will be able to effectively communicate research findings, and articulate feelings and thoughts in classroom debates. 2) Students wil be able to successfully answer explicit questions by providing textual evidence, and use their inference skis to make accurate predictions, 85% ofthe students will successfully pass the given sesesement. The reason why | feel that it is important for all students to be able to build up their communication sks, is simply because that alone can determine whether one willbe qualified for job positions or specific career choices. | don't want any of my students to miss out on a vwonterful job opportunity in the future because they were unable to express their beliefs or what they know. AS for being able to make accurate predictions and providing evidence with statements, | believe that being able to do this wil prepare the students for what the “real world” has to offer. Students must realize that they are going to have to make educated decisions based off of what they know and what they believe will happen (inference skills). By teaching them the importance of inferring and thinking ahead, they are preparing for what is to come in the future, ‘Subject: Mathematics Long Range Leaming andlor Developmental Goals Tiumbor Sense and Base Ten SNSBT.2: Add and subtract whole numbers fluently to 1,000 using knowledge of place value and properties of operations. First off students should definitely know the different states of matter because it is something that they will interact with and encounter in the future. When cooking or putting groceries up students should understand how an object's state of matter can alter, based on the ‘amount of heat or cold temperature it encounters. It is also important for students to know the cist of how the earth is made up because in order to protect our home planet, we must know how it is composed and how it functions. There may also be a student who may possibly be interested in pursuing a career as a geologist; without the basic knowledge of the earth and its physical make up it will be extremely difficult for a student to follow through with that career. Subject: Social Studies Long Range Learning andlor Developmental Goals Standard 3-1; The student will demonstrate an understanding of places and regions in ‘South Carolina and the role of human systems in the state. Students will be able to properly identify the 6 regions of South Carolina, as well as their characteristics. 90% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. ‘Standard 3-2; The student will demonstrate an understanding of the exploration and settlement of South Carolina. Students will be able to explain how South Carolina was founded, and how the settlers lived in this state. 90% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment. Standard 3-5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the American Revolution and South Carolina's role in the development of the new American nation. ‘Students will be able to explain the impact South Carolina had on our country during the ‘American Revolution. 90% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment ‘Standard 3-5: The student will demonstrate an understanding ‘of the major developments in South Carolina in the late nineteenth and the twentieth century Students will be able to identify and explain the resources and major developments founded in South Carolina from the 19"-20" century. 90% of the students will successfully pass the given assessment Rofloct on the long range learning and/or developmental goals): Of the long range learning and/or developmental goals you have established, which goals do you believe are the most Important for alt students to achieve, and why? ‘Although all of the Social Studies goals are important | would prioritize two of the goals over the others. The two goals | feel are the most vital would be: 1) Students will be able to properly identify the 6 regions of South Carolina, as well as their characteristics. 2) Students will be able to identify and explain the resources and major developments founded in South Carolina from the 19th-20th century. The reason why itis so important for the students to know the six regions ‘and their characteristics is simply because that is where we are living as of the time being Just a it is important for students to be able to read a map, its important for students to know what region and what is located in that region, so they know where to go if they wanted to go to the mountains, the beach, the forest, and so forth, As for knowing the major developments of South Carolina, i's important to know because its beneficial to know your state's history for obvious, reasons,
