The purpose of this letter is to support the teaching application for Lindsay Trappen. I had the pleasant opportunity to supervise Lindsay during her student teaching experience at Walnut Hills Elementary in Waukee, Iowa. During the period from August 31st thru October 16th of 2015 she worked with 1st grade children. Lindsay will complete her student teaching experience at Jordan Creek Elementary in West Des Moines, Iowa working with 5th grade students from October 19th thru December 11th. I would like to support her teaching application by elaborating on her skills. During Lindsays student teaching experience I conducted several formal observations based on the Iowa Teaching Standards. I observed Lindsay exhibit positive expectations for all students, establish good classroom management techniques and design lessons for student mastery. The range of abilities and disabilities was vast at both Walnut Hills Elementary and Jordan Creek Elementary. However, while serving those students she addressed each students needs with tenacity and creativity. Lindsay has made a lasting impression when it comes to her rapport, responsibility, and resourcefulness. Her competence to adjust quickly to the needs of young students is a definite strength. She has the ability to help them feel safe and nurtured, challenged and encouraged. Lindsay Trappens flexibility in working with students, teachers, administration and the public earned her an enviable reputation as a young educator who truly cares about education and people. Without question, she has the academic preparation, the dedication and the people skills to become a competent teacher in any educational program. I believe that Lindsay Trappen would be an excellent candidate for a teaching position. She possesses the highest level of professional commitment and competency in her work with students and colleagues. For all these reasons, I am pleased to recommend Lindsay Trappen. Please feel free to contact me at 515-314-7990 if I can be of further assistance. Sincerely,
Denny Warren DRAKE University Supervisor of Student Teaching
