Sculpture
Standard: VA: Cr 2.1.3, Create personally satisfying artwork using a variety of
artistic processes and materials
Objectives: Students will create a personal representation of themselves in sculpture
form through the use of imperfect objects
Enduring Question: Students will be able to understand that imperfections are not
necessarily useless but can be meaningful in their own way
Questions:

How can we make something perfect out of imperfect objects?


What makes an object perfect?
What is a sculpture? How is it different than a drawing or a painting?
What kind of materials can we use?

Vocabulary:

Sculpture: artwork shaped into having form


Form: A 3D figure
3 Dimensional: having length, width, height, and depth; not all points lying on
the same plane

Recycled Materials (Cardboard boxes, plastic containers, bottles, cans, etc)

Day 1 Procedure:

Introduction (5 minutes)
Assessment (5 minutes)
Art making (55 minutes)
clean up (15 minutes)

Day 2 Procedure:

Review (5 minutes)
Finish sculptures (50 minutes)
write reflections (10 minutes)
Share (20 minutes)
