Course description
The course will help business students to learn how

to improve productivity, increase responsiveness, pr


ovide more choice to the customer, and deliver highe
r quality standards. In short, you will learn how to an
alyze business processes and how to improve them.

Course Objectives
Understanding and improving business processes.
cover a number of performance measures that you

can use to get a sense of how your operations are cur


rently doing.
introduce a number of tools that help you to improve
your business called the how to tools.
Mix of industries (manufacturing, services, for
profit, non-profit): health care, restaurants, the auto
motive industry, computers, banking etc..

Prerequisites
No specific technical or numerical background is

required, but students are expected to have reasonab


le mathematical skills (manual calculations, mathem
atical functions and equations) and statistical skills (f
or e.g. standard deviation, normal distribution).

Pedagogy
A mixture of lectures (ppt, audio and/or video)

assigned readings (case studies, research articles and


/or book chapters/handouts) , group discussions and
class activities.
