Malcolm X Compare Contrast
In the articles the authors talk about how black people have been
left out of the white history books. In Learning to Read by Malcolm X
it says that When white men wrote history books the black man had
simply been left out(Malcolm 3) and now in school people dont talk
about black history. In the first article the author talks about how the
black man had just been left out, but in the second he just wanted the
truth, ugly or not, but they both want the real story which would
include blacks. In Rescuing Malcolm X he says Racial politics were
part of Malcolms little birthright (Joseph 2),, Malcolm was born into
the racial politics. In both quotes the authors talk about racism and
slavery and how they shaped our country now. Also, in Rescuing
Malcolm X the author uses the phrase criminal exploits (Joseph 2),
to describe whites as the evil ones. They both talk about how the white
people are evil and yet, we treated the blacks like they werent even
human. In Learning to Read the author says who knows from the
history books anything about a black mans role? (Malcolm 4) Who
could tell you the truth about them if the history books arent right? In
Rescuing Malcolm X the author says Black peoples loss of identity

(Joseph 1), meaning we took their identities when we treated them as

less than humans. In Learning to Read the author also talks about
Black empires before slaves were brought to the U.S. (Malcolm 6) We
stole them from their villages and took them from their homes, but
what was it like for them before we robbed them of everything they
had? Lastly, the people who lived in Africa before we took them from it
had things and dignity, but we brought them here and left them with
nothing, not even respect. Then we didnt even put their history in the
books we wrote and the studying we do.
