George Gray
When figurative device and diction choices, worded correctly,
come together, they create a persons character and attitude in a
poem. In George Gray we see many metaphors and a few uses of
personification. This helps us understand his image and character in
the poem. The mood in the poem was a bit saddening, the person in
the poem was to scared to live life , take chances, or to even feel. The
persons attitude and tone in the poem is sad and makes you feel sad.
When taking metaphors and personification, and mixing it with the sad
attitude and tone of the speaker in this poem it creates the fearful and
timid response to taking chances, along with the depressing character
of the speaker. Metaphors symbolize something else and that in all
helps depict the speakers attitude towards his life. Figurative devices,
diction, persona, and mood all help you to create an image of what the
speaker is trying to communicate.
