Costco:StudyofOrganizationalCommunicationBreakdown;theprojectbeganOctober
22,2015andwascompletedonNovember11,2015withaprojectreport.
Aresponsibilitychecklistwascreatedforneededresearchandthedifferentareasofthe
reportthatneededtobewritten.Eachindividualsignedupforthedifferentareasthey
wishedtocomplete.Whentheresearchwascompletedeachindividualwrotetheir
assignedsectionsandKeniesetupaGoogledocumentforallindividualstoworkonthe
reportinrealtime.Wescheduledtimestomeetasagroupandaftereveryonehada
chancetoedit,Kenziesubmittedtheassignment.
Thereweremultipleproblemsthatthegroupencounteredwithdeadlinesbeingthe
toughest.Thegrouphaddifficultymeetingtogetherasweallhaveverydifferent
schedules.Anotherproblemwasthededicationofthememberstotheproject.Asagroup
wehandledthedeadlineissuebystatingthatweneededtoworkmuchearlierintheweek
ontheprojectandthatworkingat11pmthenightofthedeadlinewasnotrealisticfor
most.Thededicationissuewasneverfullyresolvedassomemembersneverarrived
onlineatthechosentimes,buttheirworkwascompletedandotherswereableto
completealledits.
Thiswasaveryinterestingprojecttoworkon,butwasdifficultforothersthatreallyhad
noknowledgeofthearea.Inthefutureitwouldbeusefulformoredirectionduringthe
pitchpresentationstoensureotherstudentscouldrelatetotheprojectsbetter.Withthis
beingsaiditwasagreatlearningexperienceandexpandedthegroupsknowledgeof
communicationbreakdownthatcanoccurincorporations.
