The following activities may be logged toward your requirement.
Contact the CEP Program Assistant with questions.

Direct or indirect service that is unpaid* (this could be volunteer roles, internships, co-ops) for
any non-profit organization, non-governmental organization (NGO), school, government
agency, or faith-based community organization domestic or abroad
Trainings, meetings, or orientations associated with any direct or indirect service role. This
does not include meetings for your scholarship (i.e. Opportunity Scholars Town Hall
meetings)
CEP sponsored training, meetings, events, or programs
Service-Learning Program community volunteering. This does not include time spent in the
classroom
Unpaid research positions with a non-profit organization, NGO, school, government agency, or
faith-based community organization domestic or abroad, in which you are not receiving
academic credit. Students must contact CEP Staff, via their service plan or email, to explain
how their research directly or indirectly meets a community need
Volunteering or participating in runs, walks, blood drives, or similar activities sponsored by or
supporting a non-profit organization, NGO, government agency, or faith-based community
organization
Unpaid hours spent lobbying, advocating or volunteering for a political organization or
campaign**
Any activity, event, or program that is posted as an announcement on CEP Blackboard
unless expliciitly stated otherwise.
CEP Co-op, Dialogue of Civilizations, and Abroad Projects posted on Blackboard for those
unable to participate in direct service
Some on-campus service and leadership positions. 15 hours for the year can come from
service that benefits the Northeastern community. This includes serving as a Husky
Ambassador Tour guide, a tutor for a specific department, or an Honors mentor.
Voting in local, state, or national elections
Reporting for jury duty
*If you are receiving a stipend for these activities it may be eligible to count for hours. Please contact CEP Staff for clarification.
**Views expressed by students who are lobbying, advocating, or volunteering for a political or religious organization are not the views of
Northeastern University or the Civic Engagement Program. Students are participating in these activities on their own accord and
participation in these activities is not required.
