Topic of Lesson:
Students will create their own country and determine the different types of productive resources
their country will contain.
Standards:
SS3E1 The student will describe the four types of productive resources: a. Natural (land) b.
Human (labor) c. Capital (capital goods) d. Entrepreneurship (used to create goods and services)
Essential Question:
How is each type of productive resource beneficial to a country?

Work Session
(Guided Teaching of New Content)
Teacher will introduce new vocabulary words: productive resources, natural resources, human
resources, capital goods, and entrepreneurship.
Teacher will ask questions related to productive resources (What are some examples of a natural
resource? Human resources? Capital Goods? Entrepreneurship? Why are these important to a
country?)
Teacher will divide students into groups of four.
Teacher will give the directions to the following project.
Students will work together to establish their own country. They will collaborate and participate
in discourse to determine which type of goods their country will have for each of the four
categories.
Then students will create a flag for their country using the QuiverVision.com flag coloringsheet.
The flag must have a representation of one good from each category depicted.

Teacher will share an example of a country, its goods/resources, and flag.


Teacher will demonstrate how the students creations can come to life using the Quiver app.
Students will begin working on their project with teacher walking around the room answering
questions, and providing assistance when needed.

Crayons

Google

Assessment
Groups will present their country, its resources, and its flag. Students will be graded on following
directions, and if their resources are categorized correctly.

*Teacher can build on lesson by adding topography and geographics, economic trade, and many
other standards.
