Marketing and Public Relations Manager 219.742.2160 ahedges@taltree.org Wildlife and Nature Awareness Day at Taltree Arboretum & Gardens features new piglets and baby goats Valparaiso, IN Taltree Arboretum & Gardens and Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehab Center are hosting a Wildlife and Nature Awareness Day on Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to explore Taltrees many gardens and trails, including the ArcelorMittal Adventure Garden that is home to several new baby animals. Baby goat twins were born to one of Taltrees female goats at the end of April, followed by 17 total piglets born to Taltrees two female pigs. Baby goat triplets born to Taltrees other female goat ended the succession of births. All the baby animals will be available for viewing at the event on Saturday. Exhibitors from around the region will also show off a range of native and exotic animals. These exhibitors include Washington Park Zoo, Moraine Ridge Wildlife, Taltree's Trumpeter Swans, Settlers Pond, Mark Seeger's Alligators, Pamela's Design, McCarthy Boas, NWI Chinchillas, State Board of Animal Health, St. Mary Medical Center, Danielle Pace's Ducks, Izakk Walton League, Porter County Wildlife Management, Porter County United Way Other attractions featured throughout the day will include face painting, speakers and demonstrations. Speakers and demonstrators include Indiana Dunes National Park Superintendent Paul Labovits, Taltree Education Director Maddie Grimm, Indiana Dunes State Park, Carole Reiwe with Owls, Shellie Barron with a Red tailed hawk, falconer Mike Carey, Silly Safari and more. Food will be available for purchase all day at the Taltree Grill and Culvers Frozen Custard. Admission to the event and all attractions is free.
