How have I developed this competency during this course or professional seminar/field experience?

Proper use of the English language has always been important to me, both written an orally. In the field
of science, language and communication skills are imperative for dissemination of the latest scientific research
and literature to the community at large. Without development of these skills, the flow of information would be
jeopardized. Consequently, I believe that assessment of English language skills should not be limited to within
English class, but should happen continuously across all subject domains, and especially within science.
I continued to develop my communication skills throughout the course of PS2 and FE2. In each of the
three learning opportunities I placed tremendous effort not just on the content of the assignments, but also to
the quality of the vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure used. During the field placement, I
created a powerpoint presentation on global circulation patterns and weather, and paid particular attention to
using vocabulary that was appropriate to the level of my audience (Sec IV). Orally, I have made a conscious
effort to avoid using filler words such as like or um while teaching, and in day-to-day life.
