Educational Goal: Students will be able to identify the Middle Eastern Flag. They will discuss the differences between each countrys flag, what the similarities are and what the differences are. Time to Complete: 10 20 Minutes - 20 minutes Age: (Preschool or School Age) - Preschool Curricular Area or Domain: (Affective, Aesthetic, Cognition, Symbolic Play, Language, Physical, Social Emotional) - Cognition Developmental Focus: (Language, Cognitive, Fine Motor, Gross Motor, Social and Emotional) - Social and Emotional - Language Materials: - Middle Eastern flags Lesson: Opening: Hello boys and girls! Remember yesterday when we were talking about people who live in the Middle East? And how their culture is different than ours? Well today we are going to look at their flags and see how they are similar and different from ours. Body: Teacher explains to the students what flags represent. The teacher then shows the students the different flags from the Middle East and what their representation stands for. Lastly the teacher will discuss with the students the similarities and differences between flags from the Middle East and flags from the United States. Closing: The students can come up and share what their favorite flag from the Middle East is. The teacher will ask the children if they enjoyed learning about Middle Eastern culture. Transition: (What are you going to do next?) - Introduce how different cultures have different symbolisms, and how Middle Eastern art is different from art in the United States.
