DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To be part of the Animal Care team that includes both Staff and
Volunteers.
To carry out preliminary assessment of Wildlife Casualty unaided within
the guidelines of the veterinary protocols only.
To ensure that wherever possible the hospital environment, husbandry
conditions and release programs are conducive to successful rehabilitation
and release to the wild.
Attend training courses, internal and external, as required.
To assist with general fundraising, specific fundraising events and
educational activities on behalf of Secret World Wildlife Rescue.
To be aware of media attention and interest, ensure that the Charitys
objectives and activities are correctly represented to the media and the
public.
To facilitate and co-ordinate the capture, collection and release of animal
casualties during working hours.
To behave in a professional manner at all times in the workplace in line
with the SWWR behaviours.
To carry out seasonal refurbishments and maintenance, and other
additional duties as required.
To assist with the specific fundraising events and learning activities on
behalf of Secret World. In particular, undertake educational talks at Special
Events, and group and school visits to the Secret World Learning Centre.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Desirable
Qualifications: GCSEs, O Levels or equivalent. A Levels, Animal Care
Degree
Experience:
Proven experience with working with animals
Excellent working experience of MS Word and Excel
Interest in British Native wildlife
Proven team working experience * Experience with Donorflex
Experience using Access databases
Experience working with Volunteers
Skills:
Organised
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to member
of public bringing animals into the centre
Continual drive for improvement especially cost savings
Ability to see what needs to be done and carry it through
Qualities: * Self-motivated and resourceful

Training On-going training will be given on basic (non-veterinary) wildlife
animal care.
Hours of work; Casual
To be part of a shift rota to include regular weekend, evening work and
public holidays There will be a six month probationary period with a three
month review.
