JUNIOR HEALTH AND WELLBEING


MENTOR
Overview of the role
This role centres on upholding La Crisalida Retreats’ approach, brand and ethos with guests at
the retreat.

The role is focussed on the day-to-day delivery of the programme and guest relations at the
retreat, which includes leading activities on the programme and maintaining excellent guest
relations. This role requires a good overall level of fitness as it can be physically demanding.

We require mentors to have the knowledge and skills to coach and influence groups and
individuals.
Accountable to: Programme Manager and Assistant Programme Manager
Key Supporting Responsibilities:
Programme related activities
• Leading guided walks and other activities (rebounding, other group exercise classes,
meditations, life-makeover workshops, juicing demonstration, creativity classes etc.) with
sufficient training/qualification
• Facilitating scripted Yoga Nidra classes and guided visualisations
• Teaching yoga classes including any private yoga classes requested by guests.
• Taking and managing scripted welcome chats for new guests
• Sharing mealtimes with guests and managing conversations where necessary using the
La Crisalida Retreat approach
• Working with guests to help them move towards their health and well-being goals
Guest relations and guest service
• Accountable for guest experience at the retreat, particularly for programme activities
during your shift. Working with colleagues in all departments to ensure a high quality of
service is provided to all guests.
• Working with the Programme Manager, Assistant Programme Manager and Duty
Manager to enhance the quality of the guest experience at the retreat
• Working with guests to help them move towards their health and well-being goals, using
the La Crisalida Retreat approach
• Responsibility for soft allocation of mentors to guests and summarising physical,
emotional issues from the guest health questionnaire
• Supporting and managing guests who might experience ill-health or strong detox
symptoms
• Monitoring and promoting the use of Health and Wellbeing library of books and DVDs
including magazine subscriptions
• Helping to promote the La Crisalida Retreats health and well-being ethos and brand
• Sharing with guests the La Crisalida’s approach to diet, nutrition and living a healthy and
balanced lifestyle
• Facilitating scripted La Crisalida workshops to our unique format, which have been
developed over years of experience (including life makeover, mindfulness and others)
• Encouraging guests to listen to their bodies and intuition to find their own answers
Other Responsibilities
• Writing articles for the La Crisalida website and newsletter
• Writing posts, taking pictures (including being in staged pictures) as requested by
Marketing team, for social media or other La Crisalida marketing
• Responsibility for maintaining records for class attendance
• Maintaining high standards around the retreat – caring for the retreat environment and
feeding back to the relevant Head of Department where necessary
• Working additional hours as required by the business from time to time to ensure
deadlines are met and guest experience is maintained
• Maintaining a professional and friendly approach to guests and work colleagues
• Dressing appropriately in LCR uniform where provided, clean and tidy appearance etc
• Acting as a role model for team, other staff and guests
• Any other duties as requested by senior management
Health and safety
• Accountable for health and safety for the provision of programme activities including
guests whilst on the activities
• Working with the management team to ensure health and safety standard around the
retreat are maintained to the highest level
Experience
Essential experience: (applicant will need to be able to demonstrate through employment, voluntary work, or life experience)
the applicant MUST have this experience
• Coaching, facilitating and training groups of people
• Influencing and leading groups
• Leader of yoga classes
• Presentation and workshop facilitation
• Working with others to achieve their full potential
Desirable experience
• Experience in a retreat (or similar) environment
• Leading walks for groups
• Working and living in Spain
• Leader of group exercise classes
Skills and Attitude
Desirable skills and attitude required are:
• High level of maturity
• Outstanding communication and influencing skills including listening, questioning, writing
and teaching
• Ability to avoid pre-judging people or making too many assumptions
• Ability to question skilfully and actively listen to others
• Ability to know the difference between the cause of a problem and its symptoms
• Ability to work well under pressure and be able to think on your feet
• Ability to explain complex matters in a simple way that people can relate to
• Ability to manage your internal states to ensure effective communication
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a small business environment. For example,
flexible and open to changing rotas, as required by the business, to cover holidays and
extra shifts as required. Also, flexible and adaptable in communication style with staff
and guests.

• Ability to be comfortable when people are upset (with the ability to demonstrate you
care, but also assisting guests to be accountable for their lives).
• Ability to self-regulate life’s highs and lows through self-awareness and self-
understanding, without becoming self-absorbed
• An understanding of the difference between coaching, advising and mentoring
• Have an attitude of “can-do” in the face of challenges or problems.
• Interested in people and have a desire to support people on their own health and
wellbeing journey
• Fluent English speaker, Spanish highly desirable
• Computer skills, Email, MS Word, MS Excel
Qualifications and knowledge
Essential:
• Professional qualification in Yoga (minimum 200 hours)
Desirable:
• Life Coaching or NLP
• 1-year consecutive teaching experience
• Group class instructor - Exercise to Music
• Formal Nutrition Training/Qualification
• Walking Leader Training/Qualification
