English teacher Yvonne McKenzie and I worked on developing new units for an anchor text for a newly adopted curriculum for 10th grade in Allegany County. Creating lesson plans that align with the State Standards is extremely time-consuming. Creating lessons that discussed racism, diversity, and multiculturalism is a personal passion.

Activity: Curriculum Planning
Time: 20 Hours Artifact: Quotes and PPT from To Kill a Mockingbird Description: English teacher Yvonne McKenzie and I worked on developing new units for an anchor text for a newly adopted curriculum for 10th grade in Allegany County. We planned throughout the summer to create lessons, projects, and activities that aligned with the State Standards and used UDL to approach students in a variety of genres. Reflection: Creating lesson plans that align with the State Standards is extremely time-consuming. However, creating lessons that discussed racism, diversity, and multiculturalism is a personal passion, and I enjoyed designing all of the units and lessons that coincided with the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird and all of the short stories that discussed these sensitive issues that we were able to design around this anchor text.
