To the SEL Human Resources Department,
My name is Kyle M. Zeller and I am working on my Degree in Electrical Engineering at the
University of Idaho. I am applying for your Electrical Engineering internship for the summer
of 2015. For a variety of reasons I am uniquely qualified for this position. Firstly, I have
previous history with the company as I worked in the manufacturing department for 3 years.
Secondly, I am equipped with the basic knowledge of the SEL product line-up in part to
having many family member working for the business and many friends. Finally, I am
already learned in the corporate culture that SEL embodies.
In my time at SEL I worked in all 3 buildings of the 2440 building including shipping and the
warehouse. As such I am extremely conscious of all the internal construction of most, if not
all SEL products at all stages of process. I have experience working with many process
engineers of the company and prototype engineers. This also has given me a unique glimpse
at the basic ways the companys engineers function.
I have also learned much in my time at SEL and from family members and friends about the
functioning of the SEL staple products. I am aware of the basic communication applications
of the ICON system and how it interacts with a connected power grid. I am also versed in the
general concept of how the 710 industrial motor protection relays function. Finally I fondly
remember the 3355 computers and their amazing functionality, I remember a Friday lunch
where the product was highlighted and we all were told the story of how the 3355s
predecessor the 35300 had been used as a command station for an African radio station.
This gives me a unique view of versatility of SELs product line.
To this day I still hold myself the corporate ideals of Identifying, Measuring, and Improving all
that I do. SEL values have had an effect on my life for the better and it is reflected in my
work.
As you can see I am uniquely qualified for this internship position and would appreciate your
consideration.

Sincerely,

X________________________________________________
