the Continental Divide and to the Pacific Ocean.
This site told us that on the 28th of February 1803, Thomas Jefferson got
approval from congress and was able to send the Corps of Discovery out to the new
land. The mission was to explore the uncharted west where they would find Native
American tribes, rivers, and new plants and animals.

Pacific Ocean and back. They mapped the lands, and noted the tribes, animals,
plants, weather, and terrain. The site also had primary sources and journals for each

before, during, and after the expedition. It explained who Meriwether Lewis and
William Clark were and what talents they contributed towards the expedition. It also
explained how it was formed and how the Purchase was made. And finally, what
they saw and noticed about the weather, animals and plants, and Indians that lived

"The Lewis and Clark Expedition." Lewis and Clark. N.p., n.d. Web. 7 Dec. 2015.
This website was a secondary source that held information on the start of the
expedition and why President Thomas Jefferson chose Lewis and Clark to lead the
expedition. In 1803, Jefferson carried out a piece of foreign diplomacy through the
U.S Senate. The Louisiana territory from France was purchased. A treaty was formed
to sign off on the new land and the Corps of Discovery was sent off to the new land
to explore. Lewis was chosen to lead because he was intelligent and possessed
skills as a frontierman. Clark had abilities as a craftsman and also was a
frontiersman. They both were very strong.
"Lewis & Clark." Lewis & Clark. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Dec. 2015.
This website was a primary source because it contains primary information. In
1803, President Jefferson commissioned an expedition under the leadership of
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. They were required to explore the new land
which was the American Northwest. They mapped the uncharted lands with notes
on the terrain and weather along with plant and animal life and human life.
"Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition." Journals of the Lewis and Clark
Expedition. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Dec. 2015.
This source was a primary source because it had specific dates from journals
about the Northwest Passage and how they reached it. They had various journal
entries about desperate help for supplies like horses and food/water. An early
connection with an Indians tribe turned up again which enabled them to get horses
and information about the land and the Northwest Passage. It also helped them
figure out temperature, terrain and weather patterns from the Indians information
they gave them. It also help them map out the Northwest Passage.
"Home | Discovering Lewis & Clark ." Home | Discovering Lewis & Clark . N.p.,
n.d. Web. 07 Dec. 2015.
This site was a secondary source because it contained small videos about
each specific area Lewis and Clark explored. It said how the mission had started and
before it happened. It also said how the worries they had and struggles they came
across. Lewis was nervous about the Indians being rebellious and not giving them
the supplies they needed. Clark was only scared about the unknown terrain.
Although, despite their worries, they were both looking forward to exploring and
mapping the new land.
