SUMMARY

The reaction turbine was conducted to examine the torque, speed,

efficiency and the electrical power of the reaction turbine. It also
necessary to know each part of the reaction turbine and how the module
operate and functioning. The principle of reaction hydro turbines also
should be studied before conducting the module. As can be located at
most hydroelectric dam, electric generator and commercial gas turbine,
the function is to produce power to be supplied to electrical parts or other
purposes. Choosing the best turbines usually based on the characteristic
curve based on the potential energy of the water flow and the total power
generated. Two types of turbines usually used that is gas/steam turbine
and hydro turbine that also have two types of turbine runner that is
reaction and impulse turbine. In the reaction turbine module experiment,
reaction turbine is used to test the characteristic of the turbine. Three
different speeds are used to characteristic different output produces as
mentioned above. Analysis software used in the computer recorded all the
data obtained from the experiment. Load was loaded by increase
tensioning bolt and record the measurements and saved in the computer.
It can be concluded that the objectives stated have been achieved
successfully following the characteristics of the turbine curves with some
recommendation to improve the performance and error occur during
experiments which always wear proper PPE, conducting several times test
to get more accurate and ensure that housekeeping activity always
carried out to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of reaction hydro turbine.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the experiment was

to study the characteristics curves of reaction turbine, to study the

principle of operation of reaction turbine, specifically the Reaction

Turbine,
to plot the graph of (torque vs speed, efficiency vs speed and

electrical power vs speed) and lastly,

to study the relationship between torque and speed to observe the
efficiency of the reaction turbine with different speed.
