Follow Medication Instructions for
2 weeks:
Tylenol
Synthetic Codeine
Takes 1-2 weeks for all pain to
subside.
Once pain lessens use lower
doses of medication

What to Eat:
Water-based Popsicles
Once Food is tolerated:
Soft foods for 14 days after
surgery

Precautions of Taking Medication:


Do not use Tylenol and Codeine at
the same time
Pain medicine may cause
constipation and nausea
Dehydration can occur; Drink
lots of fluidsroom
temperature is best for soothing
the throat
Risks:
Bleeding
Nasal Regurgitation
Vocal chords strained

Side Effects from Surgery:


Drops of blood from nose
Blood and saliva from
mouth
If more is encountered
please contact your doctor.
Vomiting in the first 24
hours after surgery (will
commonly contain blood
clots)
Avoid strenuous activity
Low grade fever (up to
101.5) for the first week
Ear pain
Minor throat infections
