Conclusion
Sir Mackenzie Bowell was chosen over Roberta Bondar for his
service to his country as both a soldier and Prime Minister.
He was also chosen for his community ties to the Belleville

In my opinion, Sir Mackenzie Bowell was the most historically
significant of the two choices.
