Haveyoueverwonderedwhatwecandotostopcaremissionsfromdestroyingouratmosphere?
Wellthereisacoupleofthingswecandolikerenewablefuelenergy,electric,orevensolar.Allofthese
renewableenergysourcescanreducetheamountofpollutionandsmogwithinouratmosphere.Wecan
provideabetterlivingenvironmentforfurthergenerations,toliveinandraisefamiliesoftheirown.In
today'sworldcarandgasolinecompaniesdon'tcareabouttheenvironmentunlessitmakesthemmore
money,soinordertogetthemtohelpthisearthweneedtoshowcongresshowitwouldbenefitthis
country.Thisbillshouldbecomealawtoreduceairpollution,makerenewablesourcethemainfuel
sourceinsteadofnonreusablesources,createabetterfutureforfurthergenerationstocomeand,putthe
resourcesthatwetakeoutoftheearthbackintoit.
TheairqualityintheUnitedStatesisattheworseithasbeeninyearweareatfortyseven
percent,whichisupfromlastsyearsfortytwopercentwecantcontinueatthisratesomethingsneedto
changed.Therearemanyreasonsourairispollutedfromfactories,fires,automobilesandothergadgets
thatweasAmericansuseinourdaytodaylives.Oneofthemaincontributorstothepollutioniscauseis
ourownautomobiles.Collectively,carsandtrucksaccountfornearlyonefifthofallU.S.emissions,
emittingaround24poundsofcarbondioxideandotherglobalwarminggasesforeverygallonofgas
(UnionofConcernedScientist).Onefifthofallthepollutioninthiscountryisfromourownautomobiles,
thecarsthatweuseeverydaytomakeourlivessimplerdontneedtobehurtingusphysicallywhenwe
usethem.Thisiswhyitsagreatideatouserenewableenergysourcesthatmakeourenvironment

healthierand,actuallycostlessthanthepetroleumthatweuseinourcarstoday.Alternativefuelfleets
canobtainsignificantlylowerfuelpricesthanthosereportedbyenteringintocontractsdirectlywithlocal
fuelsuppliers(U.SDepartmentofEnergy).Iftheserenewableenergysourcesarecheaperandburn
cleanerforourenvironment,itsbasicallyawin,winsituationforourcountrysoitonlymakessenseto
investinthefuturescountryandmakecarrunonrenewablefuelslikeethanol,hydrogen,propane,
electricity,andbiodiesel.
Inourcountryrenewablesourcesshouldbethemainsourceoffuelforautomobiles,not
petroleumanditsharshemissionscausingpollutioninouratmosphere.Inthiswayourcountrywont
needtoimportoilfromothercountriesandourcarfuelingindustrycanbecompletelyselfreliantonour
owncountry,buildingoureconomyandhavinglesstransportationfeesformovingfuel.Inaddition,most
alternativefuelsareproduceddomestically,whichisbetterforoureconomy,energysecurityandhelps
offsetthecostofimportedoil(EPA).Somemightsaythatwontthisbehurtingourownfarming
industry,andourotherproducerswithinourcountry?Theanswerisyesbutthegreatthingaboutthatis
thattheycanbereplacedandwithtodaysnewtechnologieswecanplantcropsatleasttentimesfaster
thanplantingbyhumanhand.Althoughsomerenewableenergytechnologieshaveanimpactonthe
environment,renewableareconsideredenvironmentallypreferabletoconventionalsourcesand,when
replacingfossilfuels,havesignificantpotentialtoreducegreenhousegasemissions(EPA).Eventhough
itwilltakemoreworktoplantthecropsitwillbeeasiertogrowthemsinceourairwontbeaspolluted
asbeforesincetheemissionproductionofcarwillbesignificantlyreduced.Aswecanseefromthe
hybridsofourworldtoday,theycangosometimestwiceasfarasanormalcarthatrunsonpetroleum
alone.ThesethingspleasetheAmericanpeopleiftheycanmaketheirdollarstretchtoitmaximumuse.
Biomassistheprocessreleasescopiousamountsofcarbondioxidegasesintotheatmosphereandisa
majorcontributortounhealthyairinmanyareas(A.E).Iftheplantsareintakingthecarbondioxidethat
isreleasedfromthethousandsofautomobilesthatdriveontheroadeachday,howwouldyoulikeeating

foodthatcamefromtheexhaustfromyourcar?Yes,nooneinthiscountrywouldbewillingtoeatfood
thatwasproducedbytheirtailpipe,weneedtomakeachangesotheplantarebreathinghealthiercarbon
dioxide,andproducingcleanerfoodthereforinthefutureourbodieswillbehealthierbecausethething
weputinourbodywereproducedinanonorverylittlepollutedworld.Soaskyourself,wheredoyou
wantyourfoodcomingfromthatyouputinyourbody?
Ifyouhaveeverwonderedwhatthisworldwillbelikeonceyouaredeadandgone,justknow
thathelpingthisbillgetapprovedwillensurethatwegetourcarsrunningoncleanerfuelsandtherefore
producingahealthierlifestyleforourfuturegenerationstogrowandthrivein.thegenerationsofthe
futurewontexistifwedonthelpthemgetthere,oneofthemostimportantthingistomakesurethey
growupinapollutedcountrysuchaschina.Transportationproducesalmost30percentofallU.S.global
warmingemissions(UnionofConcernedScientist).Ifwecouldchangeallofourmasstransitvehicles
suchasbusses,andtaxisintocleanemissionvehicleswewoulddrasticallyreducetheamountofpollution
pumpedintoouratmosphereeachday.
Cleanvehicleandfueltechnologies
provideuswithanaffordable,
availablemeansofreducingtransportationrelatedairpollutionandclimatechangeemissions(Unionof
ConcernedScientist).TheMetropolitanTransportationAuthorityisNorthAmerica'slargest
transportationnetwork,servingapopulationof15.2millionpeopleinthe5,000squaremileareafanning
outfromNewYorkCitythroughLongIsland,southeasternNewYorkState,andConnecticut.Only2
metrictonsofpollutionisproducedeachyear,whentheycouldbeproducingabout17millionmetrictons
ayear,thismakesthisthebiggestgreenhousegasavoidanceinthecountry.TogetherthecityofNew
Yorkisactuallysavingmoney.Overthepasttwodecades,theMTAhascommittedsome$98.5billionto
restoreandimprovethenetworksothattodayitrunsatunprecedentedlevelsofefficiency(Metropolitan
TransportationAuthority).Ifoneofthebiggestcitiesintheworldismakinganefforttohelpchangethe
environment,everyoneinthiscountrycanmakeachangeintheirownwaytohelpourplanetafterallit
istheonlyhomewehave.

Theworldweliveintodayisbeingtakenforgranted,weashumanstakesomuchoutoftheearth
withoutrestoringanythingtoitsrightfulorder.Whenoilcompaniesdrillintotheearthlookingforoil,
thereisnothingbeingdonetoputthoseresourcesbackintotheearth.Byusingrenewableenergysources
thisprocessisaloteasier.Simplyfarmerswouldproducecropssuchascornandthatcertainfieldwould
beusedforfuel,processingthecornintoethanol.TheCleanCitiesAlternativeFuelPriceReportprovides
regionalalternativeandconventionalfuelpricesforbiodiesel,compressednaturalgas,ethanol,hydrogen,
propane,gasoline,anddiesel(U.SDepartmentofEnergy).Mostofthesefuelsourcesaren'tharmingour
environmentandwillactuallyhelptheenvironmentgetasclosetoitsnaturalstateaswe,ashumans,can
returnitto.alsoanothergreatresourcethatwecanuseishydrogen,hydrogencanbefoundinmultiple
differentresourcesonearthbutoneofthemostcommonresourcethatitcanbefoundiniswater.The
planetearthitselfiscoveredin97%waterthereforemakinghydrogenthemostabundantresourceon
earth.inwateroralsoreferredtoasH2Otherearetwopartshydrogenforeveryonepartofoxygen,soin
everywatermoleculeyoudivideyoullhavetwicetheamountofhydrogenthatyoudooxygen.
Hydrogencanbeproduceddomesticallyfromseveralsources,reducingourdependenceonpetroleum
imports(U.SGovernmentPublishingOffice).Thehydrogenelementwillbeharmfultoourenvironment,
ifwecanmanipulateittoacommonlyusedfuelsource.Fuelcellvehiclespoweredbypurehydrogen
emitnoharmfulairpollutants(U.SGovernmentPublishingOffice).thehydrogenthatwewanttouseasa
fuelsourcewillbefoundintheoceansandsincewecanusethewaterfromtheoceantodrinkitwillbea
greatwaytoprolongourusesofournaturalresources.
Hydroelectricenergy
usesthegravitational
potentialofelevatedwaterthatwasliftedfromtheoceansbysunlight(AlternativeEnergy).Bythis
processwevirtuallyneedtoseparatethehydrogenfromtheoxygenatomandturnitintoafuelsourcethis
processwontbeexpensivesinceallyourresourceswon'tneedtobeboughtbutjustsimplifiedpumpedin
fromtheocean,soitwouldprobablyhavetheseindustriesnearthecoasts.thisprocesswillalsohelpthe
jobmarketinAmerica,helpfullyprovidingjobstoasmanypeoplewhoareworkinginthepetroleum

industryorevenmore.boostingtheeconomybymakingourcountryhealthiermoreefficient,isoneof
thebestwaystoinsuretheAmericanpeoplethatyoudocareandshowingthemthatourgovernment
actuallycaresaboutthepeopleandtheyaren'tjustallaboutgreed,mostofthetime.
Inconclusion,Thisbillshouldbecomealawtoreduceairpollution,makerenewablesourcethe
mainfuelsourceinsteadofnonreusablesources,createabetterfutureforfurthergenerationstocome
and,puttheresourcesthatwetakeoutoftheearthbackintoit.Allofthesestatementscouldbegood
argumentstogettingthisbillturnedintoalawbutthefactisthatweasacountryneedtocometogether
andstopthepollutionthatwepumpintoouratmosphereeachday.AccordingtoBritishPetroleums
recentstudytheworldhas53.3yearsofoilleftatthecurrentrateofproduction,accordingtoBP'sannual
statisticalreviewofworldenergyTotalworldprovedoilreservesreached1687.9billionbarrelsatthe
endof2013,sufficienttomeet53.3yearsofglobalproduction(George).Whenthese53.3yearsareup
therewillbenothingleft.Weneedtostartchangingthingsnowthereforewecantakethesenext50some
yearsgettingpreparedforwhatthefutureholdforourpetroleumindustry.Weneedtostartusingthe
renewableresourcesandgivebacktotheearthwhatwetookout,becauseeverythingthatwehavetaken
outwillcomebackinabigwayagainstusandwebetterbepreparedforwhatthisplanetisgoingto
throwatus.
