GUIDE ON ATTACKING FCS

So, first and foremost we need to spy and line up our target to see what we're
up against... I am just going to use an example FC for this guide.

Now from this spy report we can see the FC has defended the left flank using
3x50% wall tools for a total of 150% wall bonus, 1x50% range tool and
1x110% moat. VERY important not to forget that moat bonus in our future
equasions. Now we know what tools they are using we can go in!

Now we're in the attack screan we can peek at the castellan we're up against.
As you can see the wall bonus is at 283%, moat at 120%, melee at 162% and
range at 235%. These percentages are a combination of both the castellans
bonuses, the tools the defender is using and the minus bonuses our
commander has. As I say, the math is all done for us so brilliant!
For this example lets pretend this is a big juicy FC with thousands of
defenders in the courtyard, with this in mind a dummy wave is definitely not
reccommended. We need as many in the courtyard as possible! We first and
foremost reduce range to 0% using mandelets, this in turn removes their
range defenders on that wall from the equasion leaving us only melee troops
to deal with.

As we can see, their wall is defended at 283%, range at 235% and moat at
120%.
From this we can see we need the mandelets to reduce their range by 235%
and towers/ladders to reduce their wall by 283%. We have chosen to minus
the 283% wall bonus over the 120% maot as the wall has a far greater bonus.
From this we can set up our tools.

As you can see, I have eliminated their 283% wall by using 12 ladders rated
at 25% each and elminated their 235% range bonus by using 24 mandelets
each with 10% -range bonus. I have used 109 range troops for a total of
28,776 attack. I am using 100% range troops as we have eliminated all their
range defenders from the picture and thus are only up against melee
defenders, its GGE basics to know range attacks trump melee defenders.
Now lets add up how many range troops we will need and how many waves
needed to take down this wall so we can be economical on tools and save
room for glory flags!
First and foremost lets take a look at their melee defenders (again I will
remind you that their range defenders are now out of the picture!).

As you can see we are up against 124 flame bearers and lucky enough they
have their range/melee ratio set up at 50%/50%! Perhaps now you can see
why we defend our own castles at 75% melee and 25% range as you have
now seen how easy range defenders have been removed from the equasion.
So lets gather all our numbers!
124 flame bearers and they have 49 range defense against our troops.
Simple math! 124x49=6067 range defense.
But we are not done here, we have more bonuses to consider. Lets first take
their castellan melee bonus into equasion ....

So 62% melee strength! Easy enough but we are not finished yet. We
manage to minus their wall bonus to 0% so we can take that out of the
occasion, unfortunately we were not able to reduce their moat bonus.

120% moat bonus for their defenders! Lets put the 2 numbers together. 62%
melee + 120% moat = 182% total bonus towards the melee defenders.
So we have 124 fire bearers with 59 range defense, a total of 6067 and a
182% bonus to this 6067.
Now how do we add all these numbers up you might ask?
Lets start by discussing how we turn percentages into numbers. I struggle to
put the way this equasions works into words that are easy to undertand but
I'll try my best. If you use a calculator and put the equasion 6067x182% you
will get a number that is actually less than what the true number is.

Lets put it this way.

Say the castellan has a 90% melee bonus, if we were to do 6067x90% we
would actually end up with a number that is 90% of 6067... 5468.
So from this we see we must start from 100%, 100% is our scratch value.
6067x100%=6067. No change at all. So we can see that we must add 90% to
the 100% scratch bonus. 6067x190%= 11527... Bingo!
Now with this in mind lets do our final equasion.
182% + 100% scratch value = 282% bonus.
6067x282%=17108 total range defense we are up against.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Now if your calulator doesnt have the option to times numbers by a
percentage I have put a table up that you can use to convert % into a simple
number
100% = 1
110% =1.1
120%=1.2
125%=1.25
200%=2
Etc.....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Now from earlier we can see my total range attackers had a total of 28,776,
this is due to my 90% range commander.

We can clearly see I have well and truly covered the 17,108 needed to beat
this wall in only one wave! But what if I hadnt? What if the total melee troops
range defense turned out to be 32,000?
This means we would have to go into a second wave.
Now lets focus on these images

3xMurder Holes at 50% = 150%

1xBulwark at 50% = 50%
1xFire moat at 110% = 110%
So, it is no secret that on our first wave we strip all these tools and their
bonuses... This is what a "dummy wave" is used for. In a real world scenario I
would be using a dummy wave on this particular FC as I do not need a great
deal of numbers in the courtyard so I can save on my tools! But how do we
figure out how much we have actually stripped away?
Simple!
We take all those tools and minus their bonuses away from the total we see
up the top of the attack set up screan.

Lets crunch the numbers!

283% wall bonus - 150% tool bonus = 133% wall bonus left over.
235% range bonus - 50% range tool = 185% (This number will add up with
the castys range defense) ---120% moat bonus -110% = 10%.
So we are left with 133% wall, 185% range we now need to minus on the
second wave. I am not going to put a visual guide up for that... Keep in mind
in my pretend number scenario of 32,000 it would only take 2 waves to break
with my total range strength being 28,776 x 2 waves = 57,552.

I will offer this tip as well... Many think to put their strongest range troops to
take on the wall troops, mainly range horrors... Now in my way of thinking
this doesnt make sense. I put my weakest range troops to the front to break
the wall, as they can do the job in the same amount of waves as the horrors
can. This leaves my horros safe and sound ready to take on the courtyard
with a 30% bonus! Keep in mind the courtyard is where the real battle
happens so why not save your best troops for it? Just my opinion anyway.
As for what troops you need for the other wall and gate, cross match with the
troops you are up against in the courtyard. If they have twice as many range
defenders in the courtyard we are obviously going to stack our melee troops
up to match that. Dont just go 50/50. Also peak at the casty, if he is at 90%
melee and 45% range but has 50/50 troops in courtyard we have to keep in
mind that his melee troops are twice as strong and therefore we would need
to stack up on range in our set up. That is something you will need to learn
through trial and error.
This math isnt perfect, there are many variables but this math is a good
foundation to start at and work on.
Goodluck!
