1. Lets just say that we will have

our dinner today in a restaurant.
We have to pick one right? What
are some criteria you will use to
choose a restaurant? Do you know
the word criteria?
2. What would be your criteria
to choose a restaurant? For me,
because Im a lazy person and have
a lot of things to do today, location
will be one of my criteria.
3. What about you? Think of 3
criteria.
t-ss
(collect some criteria & write on
board)
During stage:
1. Now were gonna listen to a
conversation. A woman is asking
a man about two restaurants. I
want you to listen and write down
the criteria the woman is using.
Remember to listen for the words.
(go through criteria, write on board,
compare w/ ss criteria)
2. (follow-up Qs) Now which
criterion is the most important for
the woman?
Which restaurant does the man
often go to?
3. Lets open our textbook and
s-s
turn to p.26. Look at . Well listen
to the conversation again. This
time, listen more carefully. Check
the restaurant that goes with each t-ss
criterion.
(call on ss, go through answers)
Post-stage:
1. Now if you have to choose
between these two restaurants,
which one would you choose? Talk
to each other. Ill give you 2
minutes. (call on ss)

3. Lets look at the two restaurants
again. If we want to compare them,
how do we make complete
sentences with each criterion? (do
the 1st one as example: Andys
restaurant is cheaper than Starlight
Diner.)
4. What about the rest of them?
(call on ss, write on board)
Activity 2: talking

Can we make here (is not) even
shorter? How do we say it?
2. Can we rewrite the rest of
them? What about the next one?
(go through sentences w/ whole

as expensive as

sentence like this.
4. Now what do we do if, lets say
the man in the conversation made
a mistake. It turns out that Starlight
Diner is also very cheap. How do
we change the sentence? We just
need to delete one word.
Similar (adj.) almost
5. So we use asas to talk about
the same
similarities.
