We have a new activity set that teacher Maysoon bought for us.

Its called magnetic

construction set or magnetic tiles. This magnetic toys are so good, sturdy, and beautifully
coloured that our children love to use those everyday. The other day when Furqan got the
box out, Nuha came and sat with him. For the first few minutes they both just sat there and
built their own choice of things. Nuha tired to build one of the special 3-D shapes from the
instruction sheet. It was a bit complicated so she decided to create her own. Furqan also
wanted to build his own buildings.
After a while they decided to work together. Nuha built a small house and Furqan asked her
if she wanted to join it with Furqans house to make it a big castle. Nuha was very pleased to
do that. In fact they were happy to help each other. They both realised that its much better
to work together and co-operate. Because they created an amazing construction that they
wouldnt have been able to achieve if they worked alone.
Working together gives children opportunities to practice social skills, build good
relationships, solve problems, to take another points of view.

Learning taking place

Throughout this activity Nuha was building a
strong relationship with her twin brother,
developing social skills e.g. supporting each
other, helping and co-operating, increasing
imagination and creativity, developing fine
motor skills, exploring scientific discoveries
and most of all enjoying working with her
brother.

Whats next?

We will continue to provide opportunities for

Nuha to practice and develop social skills
further, for instance she will work in a small
group to support each other, to understand
the feelings of others and increase sense of
responsibility for the group members.
