Towards Data Quality into the Data Warehouse

Many Data warehouse (DW) project is failed
due to the low the data quality. The reason of
most number of data warehouse project failed is
because they are paying less attention to the data
quality and one of common mistake that happen
during planning data warehouse project is
always assume that data quality is addressed to
the during testing. Therefore, a series of method
is integrated requirement analysis for designing
data warehouse (IRADAH) carry out into the
whole data warehouse development process.
In this articles, the problem statement is data
quality issues in the data warehouse
development. The authors has proposed GDI [1]
(Goal Decision information) is used to discover
the data warehouse requirement which via
technique called DWARF(Data warehouse
Requirement definition) which is to capture and
deal with non-functional requirement on the
technique level. Another author[3] proposed a
method called easyREMOTEDWH[3](easy
Requirement Modeling Technique for Data
Warehouse) which is consider Data warehouse
come from different aspects and an approach to
represent business and objective and needs. The
author also integrate the three quality into the
data warehouse development which is data
quality, business quality ,and information quality
The contributions made by the authors are
combining three qualities of the DW
development into a conceptual framework. The
three qualities are data quality, business quality,
and information quality. Conceptual frameworks
can act like maps that give coherence to
empirical inquiry. Conceptual frameworks take
different forms of depending upon the research
question. Using the data warehouse quality
framework as a guide, the quality factors had to
be defined, then metrics determined for those
qualities and finally questions developed to be
asked of the end user in order to establish a
range of acceptable values.
From this article, researchers have tried to insert
the issue of data quality into the Data warehouse
development. Authors from [1] proposed GDI
