Objectives
To expose students to the real working environment
and to get familiarity with the organization structure,
business operations and administrative functions.
To have hands-on experience in their related fields so
that they can relate and reinforce what has been taught
in the university.
To expose students to new technologies and knowledge
in the market and to enhance the soft skills.
To foster cooperation and to develop synergetic
collaboration between industry and the university in
promoting a knowledgeable society.
To produce graduates who are competent and thus
increasing the employability level of graduates.

Learning Outcomes

LO1: Analyze the requirements to address problems in


relevant domains faced by organizations
LO2: Apply theoretical and academic knowledge learned in
the university to the internship and compare expectations on
workplace dynamics, skill set adequacy, and work culture
before and after undergoing industrial training.
LO3: Extend essential soft skills (communication skills,
entrepreneurial skills, documentation skills, moral and
ethical values) in work and career related activities
LO4:
Develop
competencies,
experience
and
competitiveness in the respective areas of specialization that
can be used to select a suitable job without delay after
graduation

Training Scope

During the training period, students have to be given the tasks that is
more focused on his/her field of specialization.

The scope of work should provide opportunities for students to apply


the knowledge and skills learned in the university and gain exposure of
work practices in their respective fields.

For example, training may involve some of the following activities:


feasibility study, requirement and functional analysis, system analysis
and design, development, testing and implementation, evaluation,
maintenance and installation, data collection and processing,
organization reengineering, opportunities to improve essential soft
skills such as communication, documentation and entrepreneurial skills.

- before the start of Training

Step 3:

Approval of students at the Ind. Training website by Industrial training


committee.

Reference letters will be given to Registration approved students for


applying to different companies.

Status Changed to Registration approved

Check and collect the reference letter from faculty office sign in the sheet provided
after collection.

Normally one week after your registration and submission of academic


transcript and resume.

Step 4:

Apply to different companies with reference letter, cover letter, resume and
copy of transcripts

Company database available in industrial training management system- under


documents.

Be courteous while contacting the companies.

Step 5:

Once you got the offer letter from the company, upload it in the industrial training
management system

Checklist-upload offer letter-type offer letter

Upload the copy of insurance and letter of undertaking (format will be revealed later)

Inform the company to fill up company details form.

Checklist-complete the online company details form (Google forms link)

Deadline for submission of offer letters with relevant forms and documents:
13 February 2015 (Friday)

Committee will check whether the training given by the company would be relevant to the
curriculum and give approval/disapproval

Check placement confirmed status in the Ind. Training management system.


Step 6:

Once the approval is given by the committee (placement confirmed status), online
registration of the Industrial training subject have to be done by the student for third
trimester

BCS with specialization Register using TPT2201

Other students Register with TPR3311

Cannot take other subjects along with industrial training under any circumstances.

Professional Conduct
Students must not accept offers from more than one
company.
Disciplinary action would be taken if a company informs
the faculty that an offer have been accepted but the
student did not report to the company.
If a student wish to change his placement under
exceptional circumstances,

Approval letter for withdrawal of offer from the old


company to be submitted to the industrial training
committee.
After getting approval from the committee only, the student
can change the placement.

Placement in companies outside


Malaysia

The faculty will strictly verify the placement in companies


outside Malaysia
Approval may be given

Worldwide known companies


Submission of strong supporting documents from the company,
corresponding embassy in Malaysia, etc.

Students responsibility is to have frequent contacts with


MMU supervisor and also to facilitate the contact between MMU
and company supervisors
Final report has to be submitted
For companies outside malaysia, presentation can be done

At the faculty (if needed) immediately upon completion of training (normally


within one week).

Placement is confirmed for the students who have


already submitted all documents

- Approval and Registration process

If your status is still registration approved, it may be


due to non-submission of all required documents.
Upload all missing documents as early as possible

Complete all the submissions latest by 13th March,2015 (Friday)

Perform online registration of Industrial training subject


(TPR3311/TPT2201) upon getting placement confirmed
status.

If there are problems in registration through CAMSYS, contact faculty office


or submit the manual registration form with signature from me/Mr. HLTong.
Manual registration form should accompany the screenshot of online
registration problem.
Financially barred students cannot register.

- Assignment of Faculty supervisors

Faculty supervisors for the approved students will be


assigned by 6th March 2015 (Friday).

List will be uploaded in bulletin board


Students have to submit the report for training form,
weekly logs, monthly logs, final report to your
supervisor

Report for training form, weekly logs, monthly logs - can be sent
through email

scan with company supervisor signature before sending

Final Report with weekly logs and monthly reports in the appendix
has to be uploaded into industrial training management system
Every report in Soft Copy.

Main communication is through faculty supervisor during the training

Presentation (Companies inside Malaysia)

Presentation can be done at one of the following ways


At the company during Faculty supervisor visit
Evaluation of presentation will be done by Faculty
Supervisor and Company Supervisor
Responsibility of the student to arrange for the visit and to
perform coordination between the supervisors.

At the faculty immediately upon completion of


training (normally within the first week after the
completion)
Evaluation of presentation will be done by Faculty
Supervisor and appointed faculty member.

If the presentation has to be done at faculty, inform us before two weeks of


completion of training for further arrangement

Final report and evaluation/feedback forms from the


company have to be submitted within one week of end

Presentation (Companies outside Malaysia)

Presentation can be done at one of the following ways


Through video conferencing

If the student is not having any other subject left out for graduation except
industrial training
Presentation to be conducted at company premises.
Presence of company and faculty supervisor essential during presentation
Approval from dean is required
Evaluation of presentation done by faculty and company supervisors.

At the faculty immediately upon completion of training


(normally within the first week after the completion)
Evaluation of presentation will be done by Faculty Supervisor
and appointed faculty member.

If the presentation has to be done at faculty, inform us before two weeks of


completion of training for further arrangement

Final report and evaluation/feedback forms from the


company have to be submitted within one week of end of

training (5th June,2015).
