Struggle for Equality

As Rosa Parks once said, Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to
prepare our children for what they have to meet, and hopefully overcome.
Racism is occurring everywhere in America and people need to be more
aware of it. This is still an ongoing issue that continues to worsen every day.
There is unfair inequality within society all around. African American
people are being discriminated against very frequently. Here are some
examples of racist acts taken: (CNN N.p. 25 Nov 2015.) Justice Scalia also
made some rude and racist comments, including, Black students may be
better off in a slower track school. This is not giving African Americans the
same credibility as white people, as they deserve. (LA Times, 14 July 2015.)
Another example is Missouri University, whose students have complained
and protested against racial issues going on at the school. (CNN, 10 Nov.
2105.) As this evidence suggests, there are still recent and relevant issues
involving this occurring. Religious discrimination, specifically against Muslims
is as, if not more common than racial.
Muslims are being denied service from stores and being discriminated
against for their religious beliefs. For example, a gun shop in Florida has a

sign hanging up, claiming to be a Muslim-free zone. They deny these

people service at the store. Which is not right, to label the entire religion
negatively. (Huffington Post, 30 Nov. 2015) Also, Donald Trump proposed to
not allow Muslims into the United States. He does not want them in the
country and does not agree with their lifestyle, as many others dont either.
(The Washington Post, 8 Nov. 2015.) Another example is a Muslim woman
who sued the police because they forced her to remove her hijab. She did
not feel respected and didnt like that they made her take it off. (Huffington
Post, 25 Jan. 2015.)
