Aluminum Gantry Cranes
Aluminum Gantry Cranes
When it comes to moving heavy loads, at container terminals, shipyards, and industrial
workshops, aluminum gantry cranes are oft used. They found support from ground level or
overhead steel rails present on the rubber tires. This gives them high portability with easy
maneuverability when on ground. Sizes and types may vary based upon the purpose that it
serves. These contain hoist attached to overhead trolley fitted two double/single steel
beams. Different components associated with these cranes are as follows.
Steel Rail: this component of aluminum gantry cranes come in varying lengths with
bottom flange drilled for nuts and volts of high tensile strength. This fix rails to the
main work of building. Bolt fitting may be either downward insertion with underneath
fitting of bolts. This way, even if slackening of the nut occurs, bolts will not fall on
ground. Upward insertion may also be present where fitting is from above allows
operators notice missing boltsright away. The holes of the bolts remain visible. Many
are heavy and large.
Hoist: these remain mounted on level cross bogie with steel drum. Around these,
the wire rope coils remain wound. Electrically driven these also contain magnetic
normal brakes with operations based upon rising, lowering crane hooks. These
associated with the aluminum gantry cranes may remain either unloaded or loaded.
Drive Motor And Wheels: Long travel wheels contain ball bearing double and steel
flanges. Electric motors drive two wheels mounted directly upon driven wheels,
present on crossbeams. Driveshaft drives these wheels. Proper synchronization of
the motors is extremely important for simultaneous stop-start. Time lags result in
crane crabbing.
Cross Travel Bogie/Trolley: electrically driven, main hoist is present within this.
Under slung upon single beams, these may also remain suspended between 2 beams
in beam double designs. Motor being driven electrically, this enables cross travel of
the bogie along beams.
Operator Cab: access to the cab is through looped vertical ladder set. This in the
aluminum gantry cranes remains on overhead beams at one end. For the crane
operators this facilitates all-round visions. Hoist, cross, and long travels mostly have
hand operations from control panels. Operators can conveniently reach these from
their seat. Hydraulic long travels emergency foot brakes are also present on the cab
floor.
Applications of these cranes can also be myriad. Mounted, with operations upon overhead
fixed steel rails are present within buildings with overhead steel rails bolted to supporting
steelwork or building walls. Aluminum gantry cranes have attached carriages on both ends
of overhead beam. These contain drive wheels. With such arrangements, the cranes can
travel along full building lengths with cross-travel trolley.
Single girder design envisages flyby of designs involving beam tube. This depends
upon L-shaped support. Presence of carrying limited capacities means that most of
the models will not be able to lift more than 12.5 tons. The main use of travelling
overhead cranes is in lifting the general cargo. You will find them at the industrial
and commercial warehouses.
Double girder designs on the other hand make them capable of lifting more weight
compared to the single girder variety. As a result, such gantry crane finds wide use
across various fields. Here, the mounting of the trolley rails is on the top of bridge
girders.
Electrical operations of the gantries make them capable of unloading and loading work
irrespective of the associated complexities. They also come with varying operating modes
and this includes normal container, magnetic, grab, or hook. Implementation of the drive
control depends upon frequency modern converters. This provides step-less, smooth
controls relating to various crane movements. It also ensures complete vehicle and cargo
security with precise positioning. Metal structures contain 2 poles, bridge minus brackets,
and 1-2 consoles.
Bridges may have double girder or single beam constructions, it moves upon rail with
undercarriage having boxlike welded structures. Operators can fix gantry crane using
antitheft devices. The undercarriage contains protective arcs for minimizing damage.
Today, there are many USA based companies that manufacture such high quality and
durable industrial grade equipment which considers safety of the workers as a priority.
