Bluff View Gifted/Talented Opportunities: Math Masters + after-school program - grades 5 & 6, five members on each team plus one alternate - one competition in the spring Junior Great Books/ Literature Circles (coordinated by G/T Specialist, lead by trained volunteers - grades 1-6; pull out during reading - lead last year by 11 volunteers Young Author’s Conference - grades 3-8 - 30 selected students attend “Celebration of Writing”, a young author’s conference at WSU in May Science Fair - open to students in grade 5-6 (4*" has separate fair) - primarily independent work, with guidance from G/T coordinator and Lincoln science students - culminates with a fair in spring Accelerated Math (Renaissance Learning program - grades 1-6 (this is gradually being implemented by classroom teachers - primarily independent work, meeting weekly with G/T specialist Direct Instruction (primarily pull-out) - Reading, grades 1 - 4 - Writing, grades 1-4,6 - Math, grades 1 - 6 - Creative Thinking - grades 1 - 3 - Advanced Vocabulary, grades 4 - 6 - Science, grade 3 - Trial, grade 5 - Special projects, as time permits Student Council advisors are Sue Eggenberger and Glenn Albers > grades 4-6 Geography Bee - managed by Luther Berkeland - grades 5 & 6 Spelling Bee - managed by Linda Ahlers; g/t specialist to regionals ~ grades 5 & 6
