Richmond Hill, ON L4E 4B2 November 22, 2006 Mr. Peter Piper Humpty Dumpty Potato Chips 123 Munchy Lane Toronto, ON MSA 468 Dear Mr. Piper This is a sample of a personal business letter. A personal business letter is a letter sent from an individual to a person in an organization. By its very nature, it is very business-like. To format a personal business letter, estimate the length of the letter you will be composing. The most common margins (left/right) for a letter are between 1 (2.45cm) and 1.5 (3.81cm) depending on how much you need to write. Do not indent paragraphs. Begin by keying your address 1.5-2 (3.8-5cm) from the top of the page (go down six lines), double space between the return address and the date. Enter five or six more lines and key the inside address. Enter twice before keying the salutation (dear). Double-space after the salutation, between paragraphs, and between the body and the complimentary closing. Below the complementary closing, enter five or six times before keying your name. Yours Truly,
