Dear Sir or Madam,
I am applying for the position of Assistant News Editor, which I found on The Guardians website dated
8th January 2016. This is a position I would very much like to take as it will be a useful stepping stone to
access further jobs in editing in my future.
I have recently completed my GCSEs at Icknield Community College and am now currently studying
BTEC Creative Media Production and AS level Use of Maths at The Henley College. As well as this, I have
been working for people in my local area, doing jobs like lawn mowing and babysitting, for the last two
years. Through the work in Media, my editorial skills have improved dramatically and have been highly
regarded in various projects.
From my time at Icknield I have developed excellent skills within communication and the ability to work
well in a team. This was gained through being a Prefect and taking part in a Buddy programme, in
which I helped younger years transition to Secondary School, OAP Christmas parties and open evenings
to help show off the school to newcomers.
