Three Major Production Phases

1. Pre-Production (Planning),
2. Production (Process),
3. Post-Production (Activities).
Pre-Production:
You develop the initial program idea.
Brainstorming a free and totally non-critical expression of ideas
that may or may
not have anything to do with the basic program
idea.
Define your target audience.
There are two main styles for laying out your story a Storyboard an/or
Script.
Storyboard: The process of conveying a story or set of events in a
visual manner.
(Video/sketch/audio/shot #/ scene#).
It is used for idea development, short or long term
planning,
problem solving, teambuilding and
communicating.
It allows you to refine and examine the overall story
line.
Script: Provides more detail as to the dialog for actual shooting
purposes.
It allows the talent to view and rehearse their lines.
(Video/audio).

The storyboard and script methods should be used in conjunction with

one another.

Meticulous pre-production planning is a key factor in

maximizing your Video/TV production efficiency and
effectiveness.
