Meeting Minutes- 1st Meeting

I. Call to order
President Tracy Huynh called to order the regular meeting of the Hiking Club at 3:10
pm on
at AQ 5050, Simon Fraser University.

Introduced Club Mandate. DREAMERS acronym. Introductions/why were here.

Overwhelming response from Clubs Days, thank you! How to sign up as an official
member via SFU email. Those who put down an email that is not SFU-affiliated are
not official members. To become an official member, one must sign up via club portal
SFSS http://go.sfss.ca/clubs/622/info. Those who received emails in their SFU email
are already recognized officially as members.
o No such thing as membership fee.

Also reminder that all information will be on our Facebook page as well so be sure to
give it a like! www.facebook.com/sfuhikers

Waivers/ Consent/ Emergency Contact forms in progress. Needed from members

before their 1st hike. Should be available by FEBRUARY 15, 2016 (after Reading
Break).

Next meeting after Feb 1st Midterm season is FEBRUARY 15

Main Issue: Volunteer Drivers. Forms will become available to register your car with
us and how many seats you have available. Anyone with suggestions is encouraged to
let us know of a good system!

Foundation of club = positive goal, get the most out of life while meeting like-minded
people who enjoy appreciating the beauty of BC/World. You are more than a number
on your GPA or how many hours you study or how many digits are on your next pay
check. #explorebc. No hate/discrimination. Family.

LOOKING FOR EXECS: Secretary (1)/ media correspondent (1)/website designer

(1)??/ hiking committee (5-8). Hand out applications/ descriptions that outlined
Roles/ responsibilities/ commitments. Due next week on Jan 25th in AQ 5050 by
3:00pm. Interviews week of Feb 1st depending on availability. Everyone who can
commit to attending most meetings/hikes are eagerly encouraged to apply! Please
email us promptly if you would like an application or more information on the
positions.

Fun icebreaker Move your booty concluded the meeting in the courtyard.

IV. Question Period

How often are hikes? 1st hike? Weekend after Feb 15th will ideally be the first hike.
Once it gets warmer, we have plans to get out once every two weeks.
