We took images of a High Cockscomb Anoplarchus purpurescens. When analyzing the micro-CT
images, we were surprised to find small and sharp teeth on the fish. Additionally, the stomach contents
of the fish could be visualized as well. Most notably were small spiral objects which were the shells of
small snails which the fish had eaten. Utilizing the SEM, we looked closer at the jaws of the fish and
found that it indeed had a small row of sharp teeth. However, the front row of teeth seemed damaged
from some blunt hit. Overall, we were surprised to find such sharp teeth on a small fish like the A.
purpurescens.
