Given a transformer-coupled emitter-follower circuit as in Figure 1. The parameters are:


VCC = 18 V, RL = 8 , a = 10, = 100, VBE(on) = 0.7 V
Peak amplitude of emitter voltage vE is limited to 0.9VCC.
Peak amplitude of emitter current iE is limited to 0.9 ICQ.
a)
Design appropriate values for R1 and R2.
b)
Determine the maximum amplitude of the output signal voltage
c)
Calculate the average power delivered to the load.

Given a class-A power amplifier as in Figure 2. Given VCC = 15 V and RL = 2 k.


Assume that the Q-point is in the center of the load line.
a. Find the quiescent power dissipated in the transistor
b. If the sinusoidal signal is limited to a 13 V peak-to-peak value, determine
i. The average signal power delivered to the load
ii. The power conversion efficiency

3. For the idealized class-B output stage shown in Figure 3, VCC = 10 V, RL = 500 and the
output signal is vO = 5 sin t (V). Determine:
a) the average signal load power
b) the average supply power
b) peak current in each transistor
c) power conversion efficiency
