Dear Parents,
Thursday, January 28, 2016
As a Kindergarten team we would like to give you a
grade level update each quarter on our website.
Please continue to check in with your childs
homeroom teacher on specific things happening in
their classroom, but here are some items we are all
learning and practicing every day!
English/Language Arts:
-Concepts of print when reading
-sounding and reading CVC words
-applying phonics skills with decoding
-writing How To stories with steps and ordered events
-rhyming words
-vowel sounds (short and long)
-opposites
Math:
-Identify and name all 2 and 3 dimensional shapes
-describe length and width
-compare two objects using more/less
-classify and count objects in categories
-making 10 with any numbers 1 to 9
-fluently add and subtract within 5
Social Studies:
-Identify American Symbols and explain what they
mean (Flags, Bald Eagle, Statue of Liberty, Lincoln
Memorial, Washington Monument, White House,
Pledge of Allegiance, Star Spangled Banner)
-Nation al Holidays (MLK, Presidents Day)
Science:
-living/non-living sorting by attributes
-compare/contrast groups of organisms
-describe physical attributes of rocks and soils

**Please check out our new Kindergarten symbaloo
board! There are wonderful sites to help your child
practice what theyre learning at home!
**Remember to check and sign your childs agenda
each night. This is our easiest and most efficient way
to communicate with you!
**Your child can bring a HEALTHY snack to school each
day. Make sure this is only one snack and can be eaten
in a short amount of time.
