One primary ethical issue that needs to be addressed is how the

media addressed race riots this day in age. With the many recent
incidents that have occurred between whites and blacks, the media
has turned society against one another. The black race believes the
white race is out to get them. One man does not portray a whole race.
There have been multiple cases of white police officers shooting
unarmed black teens. These instances make anyone mad and
vengeful. The media does not help. Over the past couple of years they
have added fuel to the fire.
The media has made it a white versus black issue, opposed to a
person versus person issue. For instance, The Michael Brown case is
very similar to the Dillon Taylor Case. Michael Brown is a black teen
that was shot by a white police officer and Dillon Taylor was a white
teen that was shot by a black police officer. All the media saw was the
story of Michael Brown. (Richardson, 2014)
The media weighs heavily on one side of race in stories. No
matter which race, the story seems to favor one side. The Hutchison
Commission could regulate this.
Another ethical issue that needs to be addressed is the media
coverage of happenings in the Middle East. A prominent worry and
issue in America today is ISIS. Every American wants, or should want,
to be well informed on the current events of this matter.
The media has not done a good job in how they have kept the
public informed. For instance, ISIS sent CNN a threatening video to
warn viewers of the terrors of ISIS. CNN did not run the video because
it was not deemed newsworthy. (Smith, 2015)
The media should be keeping the USA informed of each and
every happening going on in the Middle East to prepare the country
for what we hope is not another terrorist attack.
This is another example of how the Hutchison Commission could
be used to enforce and regulate rules on what journalist and media
should have to cover in their stories.
