Environmental Consequences....
Global Darkness
If there were a Nuclear war, a thick layer of smoke would enter the stratosphere and block out the sun,
creating global darkness. The temperature of the Earth would drop up to 30 degrees Celsius. Average
global precipitation would drop by 45%, and growing seasons would be virtually eliminated for many
years. This smoke would surround the earth for decades, and when it dissipated the ozone layer would be
severely damaged, allowing dangerous levels of UV light to reach the surface of Earth.

Counter Arguments...
Though rare, there are people that think that Nuclear war is perfectly acceptable,
or that Nuclear war is good, because the threat of Nuclear war has often
prevented Nuclear war. Although a rather intriguing point of view, it seems to have
very little support with the majority of the world. Then theres the question that even
after complete disarmament, what stops countries from making new weapons? If
every country signed a nonaggression pact to not make new weapons or to
threaten countries with any nuclear weapons, and if the pact was enforced, then
there would be no intimidation and no reason to make new weapons.

Nuclear weapons do not deter major wars from happening; they invite them.
Countries get nervous because of the Nuclear powers around them, and
tensions start to build.
Negotiation does not become the first weapon of choice; intimidation does.
The threat of Nuclear war is intimidating even to other Nuclear capable
countries, and for good reason.
Nuclear weapons do increase a country's power and status; but if we got rid
of them completely, they wouldnt be a status symbol any more.
Conclusion
Heres the main message that we want to get across: Nuclear weapons are a
major problem in our lives, and they should not be allowed to exist any longer, for
more reasons than one. (And whatever certain sites say, Nuclear bombs are real.)
No one should have to live in the shadow of a Nuclear bomb.
