Narrator
Afnan is a 8 year old boy who is experiencing troubling separation anxiety. When he goes to school ,
he would always bites, scratches and hits the other kids. He clings to his mother and would become
anxious at her absence.
Scene 1 - School
(Afnans mother sends him to his class. Afnan does not want to separate with his mother.)
Mrs Janam

: Good morning class.

Afnan & Awang

: Good morning Mrs Janam

Mrs Janam

: Did you bring the colour pencils today?

Afnan & Awang

: Yes, Mrs Janam

Mrs. Janam

: Okay, take out your colour pencil because you are going to colour this picture.

Awang

: Hey, this is mine.

Afnan

: No, teacher gave it to me.

(Awang annoys Afnan. Afnan becomes angry thus he scratches and hits Awang.)
Mrs Janam

: Awang , Afnan stop fighting. Afnan come with me for a while.

Scene 2
(Teacher brings Afnan to see the school counselor, Miss Keen. Mrs Janam had already explained about
Afnans situation.
Miss Keen

: Hi, good morning Afnan. How are you today?

Afnan

: Good morning. Im fine.

Miss Keen

: Have a sit Afnan. Would you like some sweet?

Afnan

: (Shakes his head)

Miss Keen

: Why do you look so sad?

Afnan

: (Shakes his head)

Miss Keen

: Its okay. You can share with me. Im like your mother. You can trust me.

Afnan

: (crying) My mother left me here.

Miss Keen

: Calm down dear. It is normal. Do you know something, there is also someone who
have the same problem like you? His name is Snowy. Would you like to listen to a story

about him?
Afnan

: (Nod slowly)

Miss Keen

: Do you know, Snowy also goes to school every day. He always feels

afraid and lonely because his mother left him. He scratches, punches and pinches
other students whenever they talk to him. This is because he is afraid of them.
Have you ever felt like Snowy?
Afnan

: Yes, my mother left me alone here. I am afraid. I do not want to stay here.

Miss Keen

: Why do you feel afraid? You have many friends here. Snowy can be your friend too. Just
like you ( show Snowy) , Snowy also feels lonely. He does not like to be away from his
mother but Snowy knows that his mother leave him only for a while. Your mother will pick
you up after school right? She wants him to study and have a lot of friends.

Afnan

: Snowys mother wants him to have friends? Why?

Miss Keen

: She knows Snowy will be happy around his friends. They can play together.

Afnan

: What happen after that?

Miss Keen : In the end, Snowy slowly made friends and do not feel lonely anymore.
Afnan

: (Wipe his tears) I understand now. My mother left me here so that I can make friends just
like Snowy and play cheerfully.

Miss Keen

:Yes , Snowy is always happy because of his friends. Would you like to be like Snowy
and play happily with your friends?

Afnan

: Yes, Miss Keen , I want to be happy and have many friends. I want to be like Snowy.
Can I bring back Snowy?

Miss Keen

: Sure you can. Here you are.

(Bell rings)
Miss Keen

: Awang , it is recess time. Go and have your meal. I will see you soon

Afnan

: Thank you Miss Keen.

Miss Keen

: You are welcome.

(On his way to his class , Afnan reflects on his problem )

Monologue
(I should be like Snowy. He has many friends and he is happy. I want to make friends too. Awang is a good
friend. I have to be kind to him and everyone. They are scared of me because I always hit them. I should
not be like that )

Scene 3
Afnan

: Awang I am sorry for hitting you just now. Will you forgive me ?

Awang

: Yes , I will if you promise not to hit me again.

Afnan

: Yes, I will never hit you. Will you be my friend?

Awang

: Yes, of course. HAHAHAHA
