Introduction; the aim of the project.

Study of Catia Version 5 aplications: Sketcher and Part Design.
Creation of particular parts of the Crankshaft- piston mechanism;
familiarizing with basic Sketcher and Part Design toolbars.
Making projections in Drafting aplication.
Creation of engine casing as an introduction to Assembly
aplication.
Getting acquainted with Assembly commands; Setting constraints
between engine parts;
Simulation of assembly motion in digital mock-ups (DMU)
Kinematics Simulator; performance of simulation.
Conclusions.

The aim of my project is to create 3-dimensional model of

crankshaft piston mechanism.

The crankshaft- piston mechanism is that part of an engine which translates linear
piston motion into rotation. Generally more than one piston is attached to the crank to
provide a smoother delivery of power to the rotating part, though many small engines
use only a single piston.

CRANKSHAFT-PISTON MECHANISM

CONCLUSIONS

I familiarized myself with the construction of CRANKSHAFT- PISTON

MECHANISM- major part of each engine.
I had a chance to get acquainted with Catia V5 applications during
the modeling process, which allowed me to design precise 3D
mechanical parts.
Furthermore I was able to connect them, and simulate simple motion
with respect to those constraints.
And lastly I grew accustomed to public presentation which is valuable
experience before my BSc thesis defence.
