Intro (i min)

Stage 1: lead in (6 mins):


In pairs I want you to discuss what you like or dislike in the pictures on the classroom
walls.
So, you will look or discuss what you may like or dislike in the pictures? In pairs or
alone?
So, now this group goes here (T points to a place on the wall)
T keeps monitoring the Ss.

Stage 2: test/ teach (4 mins)


Think of four things you enjoy doing.
T demos an example (T should be aware of not using TL to teach language). T may say I
enjoy

reading
surfing the internet
watching football matches
traveling

T highlights that reading is his best hobby or activity. (e.g.I enjoy it the most, I enjoy
traveling, as well, but less than any of the four things I like.)
Make notes only.
T checks understanding of instructions (e.g. Do you need to write anything? Alone or in
groups?)
T elicits examples from one of the groups.
T writes them in order.
T highlights the differences in the degree between like verbs, by using such verbs with
the likes elicited from Ss.
Stage 3 (4 mins): test/ teach
Alone, think of two things you do not enjoy and one thing it is the same if you may do or

not ; then check with your partner if he does not enjoy or like doing the same things
T checks for understanding the instructions.
T elicits the answers, and put them on the board
T highlights the differences between degrees of dislike.
Stage 4 (5 mins): test/teach
Work in groups to put in order the papers with verbs, according to their degrees.
T gives feedback on the WB.

Stage 5 (11 mins): Controlled practice


These are two set of cads. The first set consists of sentences with the verb missing. The
second set consists of verbs that you will use to complete the sentences. You will NOT
use all the verbs, as some of the verbs are incorrect in this context. Then put them in
order.
Work in groups
So do you need to match all the verbs with the sentences? Will you use all the verbs?
Will you work alone or in group?
T gives feedback by sticking the answers on the classroom walls and asking Ss to check
themselves.
Stage 6 (9 mins)
Discuss in pairs what you like and dislike, using the different degrees of likes and dislikes
