This Weeks Reading Skills

*Review Skills

*Expository Text: gives true facts and

information about a topic, often includes
charts and key words to help the reader
understand the subject of the text.
*Reread: Rereading difficult sections of
text can increase your understanding. You
may need to reread more than once to
understand. After rereading, asking and
answering questions about what youve
read can help to remember key facts and
ideas.
*Cause/Effect: A cause is why something
happens, and an effect is what happens. Authors
use cause and effect to show why characters
choose to do, say, or think something.

Februarys Habit for Happy Kids

Sharpen the Saw

I take care of my body by eating right,
exercising and getting sleep. I spend time
with family and friends. I learn in lots of ways
and lots of places, not just at school. I find
meaningful ways to help others.
