    ThetopicofmydocumentaryisImmigrationAwarenessandActivismthroughArt
    inallcultures.Forsources,Iwilluseinterviews,pictures,websites,books,art,and
    music.Also,IwillgotoMissionStreettotakepicturesofthemuralsandtrytofindthe
    artistsbyspeakingtothelocals.Iwillusemusicthatisappropriatetothesubject,asan
    overtureforthisfilm.ThereasonIwanttomakethisdocumentaryisthatIfeelitis
    uniqueandthatitraisesawarenessaboutthediversecultureinCalifornia.

    TheenvironmentsurroundingusmakesSanFranciscoacityofcultural
    treasures.Infact,IwouldliketoincorporatetheBalmyandMissionStreetmuralsinto
    mydocumentarybecauseIthinkthemuralstherearethemostrepresentingtomytopic.
    Theydepictmanyofthestrugglesimmigrantshavegonethroughandstillfacetodayin
    oursociety.Suchasstereotypingandracism.

    Aspartoffindingvaluableresources,Ihavealreadyemailedtwoprofessorsof
    EthnicStudiesattheCollegeofSanMateo.Oneofthemhasrespondedandhas
    agreedforaninterview.ProfessorRamirezsoundedverysupportive,andIamcertain
    thathecanprovideinformationonthetopic.Thesecondprofessorhasyettoreply.
    Also,Ihavenotselectedthemuralstouseinmyfilm,butIstartedresearchingonlineto
    findtheonesthatbestrepresentwhatIamtryingtoconvey.

    Somedetractorsofthefilmmightsaythatitisabitofasophomoricidea,butI
    thinkitallowsyoungerpeopletoseetheircountryforwhatitis,animmigrantnation.
    OthersmightsaythatitwouldjustifyillegalImmigration,butmyfocusisonimmigrants
    struggletosurviveintheUSandtheirhistoryrepresentedthroughmuralart.

    ThemainquestionIwouldliketoanswerishowimmigrantshavebroughta
    diversityofculturestoourcountryanditsrepresentationthroughart.Manypeoplehave
    alreadyformedtheiropinions,andtriedtoinfluenceothersonehastofindonesown
    opinionandnotjusttrustwhatsomeoneelsebelieves.

    Iwilltrynottoincludecharactersinmydocumentarysinceitisafilmaboutart
    andmusic.Yet,themuralsandmusicthemselvesmightbecomecharactersasthe
    documentaryprogressesandhopefullyconveysomeotheropinionsthatareinthefilm.


    Fortheperspectiveofthefilm,Iwilltrytostayunbiased,butImightbecome
    opinionatedasthefilmgoeson.Yet,Iwilltrytochangeoratleastswaytheaudience's
    opinionsbybeingasfairaspossibleinmyarguments.

    Hence,immigrationawarenessmaybeacontroversialyetinterestingasthere
    areseveralfacetsofimmigrantsthatmostpeopleignore.Asaresult,Iwouldliketo
    introduceasubtlethemeinwhicharttakescenterstagetoprojectthecomplexityand
    beautyofculturesthatmaybeunknowinglysharedbyCalifornians.Ifthisproposalgets
    acceptedIwillworkmyhardesttomakethisprojectcometofruition.
