SanFrancisco'senvironmentregularlyproducesculturaltreasures.Infact,incorporatingthe
BalmyandMissionStreetmuralsintothedocumentarystronglyrepresents(thetopic)byits
abilitytodepictmanyofthestrugglesimmigrantshavegonethroughandstillfacetoday(i.e.
stereotypesandracism).

Asapartofpreproduction,IhaveemailedtwoEthnicStudiesprofessorsfromtheCollegeof
SanMateo.ProfessorRamirez,(insertcredentials)hasagreedtoaninterview.Oneofthemhas
respondedandhasagreedforaninterview.Iamcurrentlywaitingtohearfrom,(insertperson
andcredentials).Muralselectionisunderwayaswell.

Somecontentcriticsmaybelievethatthisfilmissophomoric.However,myrenditionof
revealingthestrugglesofimmigrantsthroughart,willtargetCalifornia'sheavilyartinfluenced
youth,allowingthemtomakeconnectionsthatwillleadthemtorealizehowourcountryisan
immigrantnation.Otherviewersmayargueitscontentjustifiesillegalimmigration,however,my
focusisonhowtheyareabletorepresenttheirstrugglesintheUnitedStatesthroughmuralart.

Thebestwaytoanswertohowimmigrantshavebroughtculturaldiversitytothiscountryis
throughtheirart.Verybiasedopinionshavebeenrepresentedovertheyearsinregardsto
immigrantsinthiscountry,manyofwhichlackfactsorcommentaryfromthesidesofactual
immigrants.Thisfilmwillallowtheviewerstoformtheirownopinions(opinionsof?)fromthe
factsandimagerypresented.

Duetothefocusbeingonart,physicalcharacterswillbescarce.Howevertheirverbalinput
willbefairlyrepresented.Thisallowsthemuralsandmusictobecometheirowncharactersas
thedocumentaryprogresses.

Heavyemphasisonfactsandanalysishelptominimizemyownbiases.Thoughmygoalisto
takethealreadybiasedopinionsandpusheachindividualviewertorevamptheiropinionswith
supportedfacts.

Inconclusion,mydocumentaryacknowledgesimmigrationawarenesstobecontroversial.As
thefilmgoeson,thesubtlethemeinwhicharttakesthecenterstagewillallowdeeper
understandingofthecomplexityandbeautyofculturesunknowinglysharedbytodays'
Californians.UponacceptanceofthisproposalIwillworkmyhardesttomakethisprojectcome
tofruition.
