Our country, our people, and our laws have to be our to priority

-Donald Trump

Human migration is the movement by people from one place to another with the intention of settling
temporarily or permanently, which may occur over long distances from one country to another or

internal migration. Human migration is Inevitable

Migration is a dominant form globally as it is the outcome of economic, social, political and
environmental factors.
When you hear an innocent sounding quote like the above one, one can tend to forget that time
and again history has shown us that politicians and leaders have used words like this to encourage
aversion, hate and xenophobia. This quote by a leading potential US presidential candidate
reminds us of the callousness we see in some world leaders when dealing with issues of illegal
immigrants or refugees by linking human and civil rights to citizenship. There can be no doubt that
aversion to human migration destabilizes and seriously undermines the potentially beneficial
relationship between international migration and human development. It acts as one of the major
obstacles to maximizing the economic and social benefits of international migration.

Though, at the same time, as an adolescent I believe that it is important for me to give back to my
country for all the great opportunities it has given me to excel in my area of interest. I also
understand the importance to work for the betterment and upliftment of our people with the
knowledge I have gained and acquired over all these years.
A statement like the quote by Donald Trump which places the rights of citizens above the rights of
immigrants/ refugees and calls for an alienating distinction
between citizens and migrants would in my opinion lead
to more xenophobia and is detrimental to the values that
the country stands for.
